Billi Tap Specify Guide

With so many options available within the range of Billi taps, we have compiled a Billi Tap Specify Guide for your office.

Firstly, consider what you want to achieve from the tap.  Is it only boiling water or boiling and chilled or even sparkling?

A cheat sheet below helps to quickly see the difference between the Billi model names and what they stand for:

  • Billi Quadra – boiling & chilled filtered water with different capacities available.
  • Billi Quadra Sparkling – boiling, chilled & sparkling water for up to 60 users, all from one tap
  • Billi Quadra Plus – boiling & chilled filtered water plus hot & cold to run a separate mixer tap (where mains hot water isn’t readily available).
  • Billi Quadra Plus Sparkling – boiling, chilled & sparkling water from one tap plus hot & cold to run a separate mixer tap
  • Billi Sahara – boiling & filtered water with two capacities available
  • Billi Alpine – chilled water only, sparkling option is available.

Secondly, consider how many users will be using the Billi tap. There are models to cater for up to 100 staff, but there are other factors to consider.

If there is a coffee machine at the same tea point, this will take pressure of the hot tap but if the tap is the sole appliance for hot drinks you will need to make sure you follow the user guide to ensure you always have enough hot water on demand.

In larger offices with around 100 staff or more, it is better to have multiple smaller capacity taps rather than than one tap.  The reasons behind this is that it means you have another source for hot water if one tap breaks down (this sounds negative but in reality it will happen with any brand of hot tap), it increases the speed of dispensing hot water and also helps with social distancing in the workplace to have more than one tap as staff can avoid it each more when making hot drinks.

Then look at the layout of your kitchen/tea point and look at whether you would install the tap over a sink or with it mounted on its own drip tray.  The Billi term for drip tray is referred to as a drainage font.  We recommend that you have the drainage font option as it means that the sink is kept free for those washing up and also much more hygienic.  You can put your cup onto the font whilst you dispense hot water which makes it safer than having to hold it at the same time.  The font comes with a 120 extension or riser which increases the overall height of the Billi tap to 250mm so you can fit refillable bottles under the nozzle.

There are a few tap styles too, the standard and most popular is the XL lever tap which has two levers which can dispense up to 3 types of water (you can dispense the 3rd option by pressing down both levers at the same time).  The Quadra and Sahara work well with the XL tap or the XT touch version with has a touch panel instead of the lever or the XR Remote which has a separate pad which can be located in a desired location, for example in areas to make it more accessible for wheel chair users.

The Alpine tap is a round slimline tap, like a gooseneck but XL lever tap is also compatible with the 125 version.

Once the above factors have been decided, you can then move on to the finer details such as the colour finish of the tap.  It makes a big difference to have a tap that complements the rest of the environment and can really create a WOW factor.

The Billi tap is in polished chrome as standard but there are other finishes available including:

  • Brushed Chrome Billi Tap
  • Chrome Billi Tap
  • Matt Black Billi Tap

Some of these finishes are stock items but others have a longer lead time so please contact us for up to date pricing and lead times.

There is a model of tap available to suite pretty much every office requirement.  Other products are available such as Billi booster pumps where the water pressure in the building is low and pipe extenders where the tap can’t be situated directly above the cupboard where the unit is housed.

Working From Home – Stay Healthy and Productive

Keeping hydrated is vital in order for us to optimise our health and performance in everyday life and that extends to our working day. It can be so easy during a busy day to forget or not prioritise taking on fluids during regular intervals.

Taking those little moments, although you feel you may not have time at some points in your day, are definitley worth it. Studies show that dehydration will affect concentration levels, mood, clarity of thought and a huge increase in fatigue.

Here at Wellbeing Group, the home of workplace refreshment, we have put together some top tips for staying well hydrated whilst working from home. Keep yourself healthy and focussed throughout your working day, helping you perform to the best of your ability.

Start the day early

This is critical.  Your morning commute to work usually helps you wake up and ready to take on your daily tasks by the time you get to the office.  Without this commute, the journey from the pillow to your computer could be a struggle!  Starting early will help you by setting off on the right foot.

Carry on with your usual morning routine

What in your usual routine defines the start or your working day?  It may be a heading home after a morning stroll, making the bed or switching on the coffee machine.  Keeping up any task you normally carry out before heading to the office helps put your brain in the right mood.  Where the same clothes that you would in the office, just because no one else may be around, it doesn’t mean you stay in your PJs all day!

Create a Timetable

Without being under the eye of work colleagues, it’s easy to start to drifting off on to other tasks around the house, perhaps the washing machine has just finished or the dog wagging its tail for a walk.  A timetable will help you stay on track allowing you to accomplish more, be flexible and if you do need to carry out a personal task perhaps reduce the lunch break you were going to take.

Have a dedicated work space

Set up a desk or location that you can go to and if possible have a work PC and a personal PC as this will help stay focused on work tasks.  If you only have a laptop, keep a mindset that when it’s on the work desk, its work work then elsewhere its personal.

Set breaks and take them!

Mirror your company’s break time policy to give you time away from your desk.  Taking these breaks away from the screen is vital as it gives you something to work towards and to recharge your minds.  Don’t short change yourself as this can lead to demotivation.

Minimise distractions

Social media can be the biggest time waster.  Close down any social media tabs and remove short cuts or use incognito browsing to help avoid the temptation of scrolling through the news feeds.  Communicate your expectations with any other company at home so they respect your working hours.

Keep connected

Make contact with other employees at least once a day, they will be glad to hear from you as they’re in the same boat.  Video call is a great way to collaborate and can be used to hold huddle meetings, it also an incentive to get dressed properly!  Customers will want to hear from people too, keep in touch with them so they know everything is still running as normal.

Be positive

A negative mindset doesn’t do anyone any good.  Keep positive, look at motivational quotes, maybe share quotes with the rest of your team to keep the positive vibes flowing.  Make sure your team share any wins they have, Whatsapp voice calls to the team work well!

Stay healthy

Being closer to the fridge and cupboards makes it easy to snack throughout the day. Before you open the fridge door, keep in mind what you are going to eat otherwise once that door opens you will be tempted to grab the tastiest (but not necessarily the healthiest) item in sight. Drink plenty of water, maybe even consider a plumbed in water cooler so you have access to chilled, filtered drinking water at all times.

Plan your food in advance, it can be much quicker to prepare double quantity of food so you have something ready for the next day too. Look after yourself with good coffee too, many employees have access to an office coffee machine and if you don’t have a bean to cup machine at home then try a filter brew type coffee with ground coffee.  Make it fun and try different brewing methods like cold drip coffee.

Finish on time

Have a finish time in mind so you finish on time and allow time for the family and other personal tasks.  A set finish time will give you something to work towards and motivate you to complete tasks.  It also means that other staff members are aware of the time you finish work so they don’t interrupt you once you’ve past this time.

Most of all, make it personal so do what works best for you.  It is a good idea to ask friends and colleagues how they get on but not everything they do will work for you.  It needs to be practical and efficient to be able work in the long term. Working from home could become part of the new normal.

We hope you found this article helpful, please don’t forget to share with anyone else in the same boat and feel free to send us your ideas!

Touchless Office Coffee Machines

Wellbeing Group are pleased to introduce our innovative touchless coffee machine range. These contactless coffee machines minimise the risk of spreading viruses in the canteen areas of your workplace, meaning those of us that are worried about missing out on our treasured hot drinks, need not fear!

With the possibility of hundreds of consumers touching coffee and vending machines every day, concern about the safety and hygiene of vending and coffee machines has been elevated by the Covid-19 pandemic, with mechanical push-buttons or touch-screen panels joining the list of potential transmission points for germs if they are not adequately cleaned.

Touchless Coffee Machine Innovation

Top 6 Touchless Coffee Machines for your Office is a guide as there are a few aspects to consider when looking for a touchless coffee machine that you can select your drink without touching the actual machine itself.  Some machines allow the coffee machine to connect to an app on your phone so you can order your drinks without touching the machine and others have special touch screen technology where you can select your drink from 2cms away from the screen!

The downside to using a hands free coffee machine with an app on your phone, is that it takes longer to make a drink by the time you get your phone out, open the app and make your selection.  You also still have to be in close proximity to the machine to put your cup in place, and communication with nearby users is required to avoid the possibility of clashing Bluetooth signals when making drinks.  Our touchless technology is much more convenient as you don’t need your phone and it can be retro fitted to some models of coffee machines.

Service & Maintenance

How to decommission your coffee machine?

It is a time of uncertainty for us all and it is possible you may have to leave your coffee machine inactive for an unknown length of time, which is why it is important to know how to decommision your coffee machine.

We have put together these steps for decommissioning your machine. This will prevent any unwelcome odours, build-up of bacteria or risk of leaks whilst not in use.

If you have a Granulated Milk Coffee Machine:

  1. Do routine daily espresso & instant whipper bowl clean
  2. Open machine, remove & empty the milk and chocolate canisters.
  3. Ensure all the product is removed and replace canisters
  4. Switch OFF power at the mains electric socket
  5. Remove manual fill water tank (if applicable) & empty any water and refit the tank
  6. If the machine is plumbed in, turn the water supply to the machine OFF, ideally at the point where we have taken the water supply off the mains. Normally this is a simple quarter-turn of the on/off tap.  Various tap options in the ‘off’ position are shown on the guide below:
  7. Remove the drip tray and coffee waste bin & wash out with hot water
  8. Refit the drip tray
  9. When coming to use the machine again, please ensure to turn the water supply on BEFORE the power supply. This will prevent the inlet valve burning out.

Ensure when the machine is recommissioned, it undergoes a cleaning cycle run through before consuming any drinks.

Do I need a service package for my Coffee Machine?

We certainly recommend a service plan for your office coffee machine, this will take of the admin away from you by allowing us to take care of service reminders and ensuring your filters and matching is deep cleaned and serviced regularly to prevent problems. Our service plans make it cheaper and less hassle to keep your machine in prime dispensing order.

We can service and repair any water dispensing system whether you are an existing Wellbeing Group customer or not. You could have bought your coffee machine from anyone but we will still happily resolve your issue for you, our service standards are industry leading and we promise a rapid response to your issues.

There are two options – You can pay for a call-out each time for us service your product and any additional labour or parts required to repair the system.
